The Parkside Family Counseling Staff

Therese is the agency director and lead clinician at Parkside Family Counseling. She received both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and has been practicing as a clinical social worker since 1988.

Kathleen Johnson Betzoldt, MA, LPC serves Parkside as the Lead Outpatient Therapist.  Kathy has over 44 years in health care, hospital social services/discharge planning and crisis intervention.   She is well connected to Lenawee County resources and serves as an advocate and educator with several local agencies. 

Alicia brings an electrifying energy, passion, and creativity to her therapeutic interventions. She challenges clients to be devoted to their healing and growth in order to overcome obstacles. Alicia believes people reach their goals faster when they feel supported by a nonjudgmental therapist. She utilizes psychotherapy and other trauma-focused interventions, as well as various therapeutic modalities, including visual arts, music, and kinesthetic activities for young, restless clients. Alicia hopes to empower you, instill hope, teach you skills, and walk alongside you through the valleys and mountaintops of life.

Vicki Hall is a long time Adrian resident and has worked in the Behavioral Health field for over 31 years. She has been employed at Parkside Family Counseling since May, 2018 as the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program Supervisor.

Kat began working with Parkside in 2015. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Michigan specializing in children and youth and with a minor in management. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University. Kat recently completed her certification for becoming an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. (CAADC)

Mike has been a part of Parkside Family Counseling since 2005. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Siena Heights University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Michigan.

Vanessa has been a part of Parkside Family Counseling since 2013. She received a Bachelor's Degree in elementary and special education and a Master's Degree in school and community counseling. Before coming to Parkside Family Counseling, Vanessa worked 2 years as an elementary teacher and 5 years as a special education teacher for students with emotional and cognitive impairments, autism, Down’s syndrome, and learning disabilities.

Joanne has been a part of Parkside Family Counseling since 2003. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Spring Arbor University, and a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Siena Heights University. 

 I’m a Graduate of Siena Heights University and a state certified recovery coach.  My passion for helping others combined with my life experience with mental health, substance abuse and my skill obtained with my degree and profession make me passionate about the help I can provide to our clients.

Amy joined Parkside Family Counseling in 2014. She received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Siena Heights University in 1995 and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work in 1998.

Grady joined Parkside Family Counseling in 2016.  Grady completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Eastern Michigan University and his Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Michigan.

Scott Graham, LPC, completed his Master of Arts in Counseling at Spring Arbor University and comes to Parkside from Family Counseling and Children’s Services. Scott has also worked with the Christian Mission in Adrian.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Adrian College in 2019 and continued on to the University of Michigan to receive my Master’s degree in Social Work in 2020. I am an Adrian native and very excited to be able to work with individuals in the community I have grown up in! 

Amber graduated from Siena Heights University with a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018. She also received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Siena Heights University in 2014.

Rachel is a graduate of the University of Michigan school of Social Work. Her undergrad is in criminal justice and psychology from University of Michigan-Dearborn. Before coming to Parkside, She worked as a Forensic Interviewer. Along with working as a therapist at Parkside, Rachel currently works at the University of Michigan School of Social Work as a consultant researcher. 

Heather Lucey is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she obtained her Master of Social Work Degree and subsequently became a Licensed Master Social Worker. Heather has interned with the Lenawee County Intermediate School District, and has worked as a clinical therapist with Family Counseling and Children’s Services.

Laura Mallow, MA., LPC (MI) is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about serving clients in times of adversity with a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. Laura aspires to provide healing and individualized therapy for each client through the combined
use of holistic and integrative techniques.

Linda began working with Parkside Family Counseling in April 2017.  She previously worked as a Clinical Therapist at Family Counseling and Children Services of Lenawee since 2014.

Ashley joined Parkside Family Counseling in early October of 2022, with 15 years of experience working in a medical office setting.  She enjoys helping individuals get connected with the many resources and programs Parkside Family Counseling offers the community.

Mark joined Parkside after a varied career of full time social work jobs, most recently working with high school students and their families.  He has worked in community mental health, private contractual, hospital and substance abuse treatment settings.  Working part time at Parkside allows Mark to engage in outdoor activities and have a more balanced lifestyle including adequate exercise and other aspects of taking care of himself.  

Theresa is an Outpatient counselor at Parkside specializing in clients with substance abuse issues.  She works at the Lenawee County Specialty Courts during the day and sees clients at Parkside in the evenings which keeps her pretty busy!

Hi friends!  I started at Parkside as a BSW intern and when I graduated I took a position in clinical support as a clinician assistant. I am currently studying at Eastern Michigan University for my Masters of Social Work. I have an interest in working with survivors of sexual assault and complex trauma, as well as people struggling with substance use disorder.

Michael began working at Parkside in 2020. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and later his Master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Siena Heights University.

Parkside’s Practice Manager is a Certified Management Accountant (Institute of Management Accountants) and a Certified Payroll Professional (American Payroll Association).
