Family Counseling, LLC
Vanessa has been a part of Parkside Family Counseling since 2013. She received a Bachelor's Degree in elementary and special education and a Master's Degree in school and community counseling. Before coming to Parkside Family Counseling, Vanessa worked 2 years as an elementary teacher and 5 years as a special education teacher for students with emotional and cognitive impairments, autism, Down’s syndrome, and learning disabilities.
At Parkside Family Counseling, Vanessa works with children and adolescents on family challenges related to communication and emotion regulation. She also helps teens learn to talk through their problems and develop healthy coping skills while providing support and guidance for parents. Vanessa specializes in working with children and teenagers who have special needs and behavioral challenges using, individual, family and intensive home-based therapies.
When Vanessa isn’t working at Parkside, she can be found spending time with her family, taking a walk, riding her bike, writing her thoughts, or playing the piano. She also enjoys camping and hiking, and volunteering to teach and mentor kids at her church. Vanessa loves to travel and has spent time in Peru, northern Alaska, and Ukraine learning about new cultures and bringing her support to the communities.
