2014 Annual Report
It has been nothing short of a heroic year for Parkside. Every year we strive to provide our clients with exemplary service. 2014 was like every other year in that regard. Last year was a departure from all years previous in that Parkside decided to take on the daunting, challenging, and yet so rewarding initiative of becoming accredited. Working toward a national accreditation meant 2014 was really about planning, community partnership, measuring performance, and outcomes.
Planning: The process of becoming accredited requires planning. It means orchestrating each step as you work toward a big goal. To assist us with our vision we developed a five year Strategic Plan. The plan was formulated based on several analyses and a month of community interviews. It includes expanding Parkside’s capacities to better meet the needs of the residents of Lenawee County. We’ve hired more staff, improved our financial procedures, revised and updated our staff policies, increased training, taken a hard look at our lacking technology, established a Performance and Quality Improvement Committee, and adopted additional methods for managing risk.
Community Partnerships: One of the best parts of our year has been expanding our community partnerships. It started with conducting an environmental scan to determine community needs. I spoke with many of you early in the year to hear you tell me in your own words the needs and challenges facing our county. Out of those interviews a plan grew to establish a voluntary Advisory Committee who could help me steward Parkside Family Counseling. The committee is up and running and you can meet our Advisory Committee members here on our website. You should feel free to contact them with any question, concern or input. We also established a database of all our stakeholders. It was rewarding to consider all the persons with whom we collaborate, serve, and consult every week. It is our goal to keep you informed about all that we do at Parkside and the changes we anticipate in the coming years.
Measuring Performance and Outcomes: Parkside has been measuring outcomes for quite a while. We’ve always wanted our partners in the community to know how well an evidence based practice focusing on skill development and family relationships can serve our community. In keeping with this practice we launched a Performance and Quality Improvement Initiative. Our plan is to devise new and expanded methodologies for collecting data on service delivery, outcomes, and satisfaction. With these measurements in hand we can share with you, our community partners, the success of our treatment philosophy. We can also use the information to create new programs that will meet the needs of this community. It was a full year for all the staff, advisory members, and associates of Parkside.
